Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones will be in the top five for the top-five picks of the 2017 NFL draft, according to a report from Fox Sports’ NFL Insider.
Jones’ Cowboys have been in the middle of the pack for the last few years and will be able to add one of the top picks to their 2017 class.
According to the report, Jones is a likely candidate for the fifth- and sixth-round picks.
Jones has not publicly commented on the report but he did retweet a tweet by Cowboys owner and head coach Jason Garrett saying, “I’d love to have him in my top five.”
Jones, the Cowboys owner, is in the process of adding his second head coach in his first season as the head coach of the team.
The Cowboys also hired former Washington Redskins defensive coordinator Tony Dungy to fill the same role.
The Cowboys have made the playoffs only twice in the last nine years.
Their winning streak is now eight games, the longest since 2001.
The team also lost their second game in their first nine playoff games of the season in 2016.
Jones and the Cowboys are also the favorites to win the Super Bowl, a prediction that has been largely validated in recent years.
